Jacksonville, FL (Sports Network) - If Mark Sanchez struggles again for the
New York Jets, it will not be Greg McElroy coming to the rescue as he did last
week.
McElroy is listed as the third quarterback for the Jets and Tim Tebow will be
the backup for Sunday's game in his hometown against the Jaguars.
Sanchez was pulled for the first time in his career last Sunday against
Arizona and McElroy led the Jets to their lone touchdown in a 7-6 win.
There was much speculation as to who Rex Ryan would name as the starter for
this Sunday's game and the coach decided to keep Sanchez in that position,
although he indicated he was comfortable with any of his three quarterbacks.
Tebow was inactive last week because of a rib injury, giving McElroy a chance
and the Alabama product took advantage. McElroy, though, will be back on the
bench with Tebow active on Sunday and ready to give his hometown fans a thrill
if Sanchez again is yanked.
Ryan did say this week that Tebow would be the No. 2 quarterback if he is
completely healthy.
The Jets will be without tight end Dustin Keller, inactive because of an ankle
injury.
