GRAFTON, Ill. (KSDK) - A 24-year-old Dow, Illinois woman was injured Monday afternoon in a single vehicle accident on Illinois Route 3.

According to Trooper Jeffrey Yenchko, a spokesman for the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred around 2:55 p.m. on IL Route 3, approximately a quarter-mile west of Grafton Hills Drive, in Jersey County.

The vehicle, a 1999 Ford Contour, was traveling southwest on IL Route 3 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, skidded off the right side of the roadway, spun out and struck a tree.

The driver was airlifted to St. Johns Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.
