UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - Local schools are invited the public to participate in their Black History Month events.
Some of these schools include Jackson Park Elementary School, which is hosting a celebration at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 20 in the gymnasium. Kindergartners will sing and fifth-graders will perform a play named after the program's theme, "Now Let Me Fly: The Struggles Toward Brown v. Board of Education."
University City High School is also hosting Black History Month events including a dance performance at 10:26 a.m. February 26 in the auditorium. The program's theme is New Orleans: Cultural Exchange on the Mississippi.
Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School is hosting an event where all grade levels will give presentations in their classrooms at 5:30 p.m. February 28. The program's theme is, "Education Then and Now."
Brittany Woods Middle school will hold a celebration at 1:30 p.m. February 28, and Pershing Elementary School will hold a program called "Gospel Music Through the Years" at 6 p.m. February 28.
