ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The winter storm moved into the NewsChannel 5 viewing area Thursday and some roads were turned into parking lots.
While other interstates, highways, and roads may be open, they remain hazardous.

Joe Monroe with the Illinois Department of Transportation says Washington and Randolph counties are the hardest hit.
He says IDoT has covered 5,000 lane miles in the area and has 170 trucks and 300 workers out clearing the roads.

MoDOT and IDoT have also set up hotlines to check conditions before hitting the road.

Metro is keeping an eye on weather and road conditions. They suggest riders plan ahead and allow extra time for commutes.
MetroBus and Call-A-Ride are delayed due to weather. They are running approximately one hour behind schedule
MetroLink stations, transit centers, bus stops, and parking lots have been treated, but will still be slippery. Customers should use caution. Snow routes can be found at metrostlouis.org
