ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A south St. Louis County teacher has been named National Child Care Teacher of the Year.

Lisa Janis a teacher at Lindbergh Early Childhood Education was given the Helene Marks Award by the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation for exceptional child care.

Janis received a $500 Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children's Tylenol National Child Care Teacher Award earlier this month, along with 52 other teachers nationwide. She received the award for writing a grant proposal that would fund a program to teach music, rhythm, coordination, and social skills to kids.

Because Janis won the grand prize, she will receive another $1,000 to use toward her project.

She will accept her award April 11 in Philadelphia.
