Suspicious package detonated in downtown STL

City Hall was not evacuated, but the police chief wants people to stay vigilant.

ST. LOUIS - The Bomb and Arson Squad a suspicious package near St. Louis City Hall Monday morning.

Police Chief Sam Dotson says four packages were found; three contained clothing and the fourth contained household items. The bag containing household items was disrupted by the bomb squad out of an abundance of caution.

Officers do not believe that whoever left them meant to cause a disruption.

It was determined that employees who work at St. Louis City Hall were not in danger, and the building was not evacuated.

Chief Dotson says this is a perfect reminder of see something, say something. Anyone who sees something suspicious is asked to alert local authorities.
