Swansea police honor Pokemon players

Some Swansea kids are being recognized for watching out for their neighbors.

SWANSEA, ILL. - Some great kids in Swansea are being honored for doing the right thing.

The Swansea Police Department says Owen, Alan Josh and Nolen, all 11 and 12 years old, were playing Pokemon in their neighborhood when they saw something strange.

A house had the front door wide open.

Night was starting to fall, so the kids called their parents and the parents called the police.

Turns out the family was on vacation and somehow the door ended up being left open for quite some time. Leaves and debris had even blown in.

The Swansea Police Department decided to honor the boys with a Certificate of Excellence and some Burger King gift cards with one catch-- they had to spend them on ice cream or desserts.
