Unlicensed Ill. daycare investigated for sex abuse

COLUMBIA, Ill. (KSDK) – A juvenile faces three felony sex charges against other juveniles.

Police say it happened at what appears to be an unlicensed home daycare in Columbia, Ill.

The person answering the door at the home on the 600 block of Giffhorn Street wasn't talking when 5 on Your Side's Mike Rush knocked and because both the accused and the alleged victims are all minors, police are limited in what they can say.

The age and gender of the alleged offender is protected and the same goes for any potential victims.

Investigators are also not commenting on how many victims they believe there are; although the police chief says he feels confident that he's identified them all.

The juvenile faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, which are all felonies.

The mother of one of the alleged victims said her child is having a hard time coping.

"Please pray for us during this situation. It's an absolutely horrifying situation for our families to go through. So please just be supportive with all of us," said the mother who NewsChannel 5 is not identifying in order to protect her child's identity.

Police say the investigation began in mid-July when they received a complaint of "inappropriate touching" at the home.
