Which school districts have used the most snow days?

ST. LOUIS - It's been a rough winter for school districts in the bi-state area. Many are having to extend the school year due to all the snow days taken.

NewsChannel 5 did a little digging this morning to find out which school district has called off the most this year and over the last five years. We couldn't look at all districts; there's just too many to study in such a short time frame. Just the larger districts (most have more than 10,000 students) were included.

It's important to note, it's not fair to compare districts because some are located in regions that receive more snow, some have more rural roads to deal with and district calendars are not the same; meaning some schools may have already had a schedule day off when others had to use a snow day.

Lastly, some districts had to cancel a makeup day that was scheduled for Presidents' Day because of ice. Because it was not a regularly scheduled day, it was not included in the totals.

Number of snow days this year:

Edwardsville - 10

Rockwood - 9

Ferguson-Florissant - 9

Fox C-6 - 9

Hazelwood - 9

Wentzville - 8

Belleville 201 - 8

Parkway - 7

Francis Howell - 7

Fort Zumwalt - 7

SLPS - 7

Mehlville - 6

Five year totals:

Fox C-6 - 33

Edwardsville - 31
