Woman gets into Ameren Missouri substation, causes 4,000 outages

ST. CHARLES, MO. - About 4,000 Ameren customers in the St. Charles area were without power after a woman made contact with an energized piece of equipment Thursday.

According to a statement from Ameren Missouri, the woman was not an Ameren Missouri employee or contractor.

A spokesperson for the St. Charles City Police said the woman climbed over the chain-link fence at the substation on the 3800 block of Huster Road, climbed a tower and grabbed a resistor or wire apparatus. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police said the woman's condition is unknown.

The contact caused temporary outages for 4,000 customers. Ameren said the outages have since been restored.
