SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Historical preservationists and writing advocates are putting on workshops in the Springfield area to help aspiring writers explore everything from their ancestry to holiday angst.
The workshops through October, November and December are being organized by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Vachel Lindsay Association.
Among the sessions is one on Dec. 8 entitled, "Facing Fear in Your Fiction." It's devoted to help writers explore their fears.
Another set for Dec. 15 is dubbed, "Bad Fruitcake, Burnt Turkey, Good Stories." It's a session devoted to helping writers capture the tension and turmoil around the holidays.
Instructors are from the University of Illinois at Springfield and Benedictine University.
