Man arrested for making 'shake and bake' meth

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A 43-year-old man is in custody after an officer noticed him creating a volatile type of meth while sitting in a car outside a north St. Louis gas station early Wednesday morning.

At 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities say the officer became suspicious when he saw the suspect sitting inside his car for a long period of time outside of the Phillips 66 gas station in the 5000 block of Goodfellow Boulevard.

The officer, deciding to investigate further, approached the man sitting inside the car – that's when he discovered the suspect handling a "Shake & Bake" bottle believed to contain methamphetamine. The combination is known to be volatile and highly explosive.

The bottle was secured and the man was taken into police custody. Warrants are expected to be applied for sometime Wednesday.

The suspect's name will not be released until charges are formally filed.

No additional information was immediately available.
