Man improperly driving motorized bike faces meth charges

GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KSDK) – A 40-year-old rural Granite City man faces drug charges after police found two packages of methamphetamine in his possession after they pulled him over for improperly driving a motorized bike.

It happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday. A Madison County Sheriff's Deputy saw William Black driving a motorized bicycle on Old Alton Road near West Chain of Rocks Road.

Police say the bike didn't have a front or rear light, and that Black didn't use a hand signal to indicate that he was turning.

A subsequent search revealed that he had two packages of meth.

He has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and received a warning for the traffic offenses. He is currently being held in the Madison County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
