ST. LOUIS, MO. - The goal is simple, but the impact can be enormous.
From helping make sandwiches for the homeless, to packing fresh produce at a food bank, or working in local schools and libraries to help them better serve their communities - on October 22, volunteers from across the country will unite for Make a Difference day, one of the largest annual single days of service in the country.
Thousands of service projects will take place. Some large, many small. But each of them truly making a difference.
Employees from our parent company Tegna will lead the effort in cities across the country.
But this is also about you making a difference with your own project.
You can go online to makeadifferenceday.com, or follow the link on our website. Register your group's idea for a community service project that you'll carry out on make a difference day, Saturday October 22. The website will help you shape your mission, recruit volunteers and spread the word. Registering your project also qualifies you for one of fourteen $10,000 grants from Tegna, The Arby's Foundation, Points of Light and the HandsOn Network.
Online, you can also find a project to get involved in, or learn more about the work of volunteers here and across the country.
It shows that anyone, no matter their age or background, can make an impact on their community.
Lots of service projects but one purpose: to improve the lives of others.
