Men charged after I-55 pursuit

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Two men have been charged with robbery and assault after officers took them into custody following a pursuit that ended when their vehicle crashed and overturned at Interstate 55 and Arsenal.

Police began their search for Lamontay Ollie and Leonard Wilkins on Wednesday, when a man told authorities that he had been pistol-whipped multiple times by the suspects after a confrontation at a gas station in the 2800 block of N. Florissant.

Officers patrolling the area of Grand and Dr. Martin Luther King later saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle described in the robbery. When they tried to pull the suspects over, they fled at a high speed. Officers pursuing the vehicle then hit a pole at Grand and Bell.

The suspect vehicle continued to flee, until it crashed and overturned at I-55 and Arsenal. Ollie and Wilkins were later taken into custody.

They are each charged with attempted robbery, assault, armed criminal action and tampering with a victim or witness. They are currently being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
