Missouri, Illinois power outages rise overnight

(KSDK) – Homes and businesses are experiencing power outages on both sides of the Mississippi River early Monday morning.

According to the Ameren Outage Maps, more than 1,700 outages have been reported in Missouri between Jefferson and Franklin counties. In Illinois, more than 10,000 outages have been reported throughout the state, with a majority in St. Clair and Madison counties with more than 5,500 reported.

No word on what has caused the outages or when power will be restored.

According to Ameren Illinois, snow packed roads and strong winds are slowing down restoration efforts.

Customers should report outages by calling 1-800-552-7583 or through Ameren Missouri's website. In Illinois, contact 1-800-755-5000 or through Ameren Illinois' website.
