A 51-year Chicago tradition continued this weekend in observance of St. Patrick's Day. The Chicago River was dyed emerald green ahead of the city's parade. Despite cold and gloomy weather, thousands of people watched the festivities from bridges over the river. They cheered as Chicago journeymen plumbers poured the dye into the water. Hundreds of thousands of people turned out for the dying event and St. Patrick's Day parade. (All pictures courtesy Scott Olson, Getty Images News)
