Police redistricting starts at 4 a.m.

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – In just a few hours, major changes will begin for the St. Louis Police Department.

Starting at 4 a.m. Monday, the city will divide into six patrol district instead of nine, moving 850 officers.

Chief Sam Dotson says the redistricting will reduce crime by balancing the workload on officers, and create a more effective and efficient police force.

It will also put more officers in areas o the city that have the most problems, and will open the door for more hot spot policing.
