Police shut down Oklahoma City airport after shooting

Police confirmed the shooting victim died from their injuries.

Authorities have shut down Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport and have asked passengers already there to shelter in place following a shooting Tuesday afternoon.

“We have confirmed one victim shot at Will Rogers Airport. Please avoid going to the airport at this time,” the Oklahoma City Police Department said via Twitter at 2:19 p.m. ET.

Oklahoma City Police Capt. Paco Balderrama told The Associated Press that there have been reports of a second shooting victim, but say authorities have not been able to confirm.

The condition of the one confirmed victim was not known and no other details of the shooting were immediately available.

Streets around the airport have been closed to traffic and citizens have been warned to stay clear, according to local media reports.

Flights at the airport have been suspended “until further notice,” the airport said via Twitter at 2:42 p.m. ET.

"There are going to be some delays for flights until we have further information," Will Rogers Airport spokeswoman Karen Carney told AP.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
