Police: South City man attacked family with butcher knife

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A man accused of stabbing the mother of his children with a butcher knife while his daughters looked on his still on the loose, police say.

It happened early Saturday morning in the 3600 block of South Compton. The suspect and the 42-year-old woman got into an argument about her rental car. As the argument escalated, the 45-year-old suspect went inside and grabbed a butcher knife.

He came back and stabbed the victim in the arms, legs and neck. The other two victims – identified as the 26 and 27-year-old daughters of the suspect and the other victim – tried to separate their parents, but were hit with a folding chair.

The mother was taken to the hospital, where she is listed in stable condition. One of the daughters suffered a laceration on her left hand from the knife, and was also taken to the hospital. The other daughter refused medical treatment.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, and remains at large.
