Wellston promising change after scathing audit

The first-term mayor said they will use the audit as a road map for improvements.

The City of Wellston is promising to make changes, after a scathing audit by the state.

Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway says she found widespread mismanagement of court records and finances in Wellston's Municipal Court.

Among other things, the audit raises concerns over missing case files, the misspending of bond money and questionable court fees.

After the report, Wellston Mayor Nate Griffin, who is in his first term, said the city welcomes the audit, and will use it as a road map to make necessary changes.
