Rash of car break-ins reported at airport hotel

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Thieves are combing the parking lot of the Marriott-St. Louis Airport, where they've stolen purses, wallets and even two guns from cars.

Police say about a dozen vehicles have been hit in the past month – one was even hit Thursday night. The thieves stole iPods, laptops, GPS devices and clothing.

The biggest concern however, are two stolen guns, items that police say could be used in a price.

Hotel guests told NewsChannel 5's Talia Kaplan that this serves as a "wake-up call."

Police are upping their patrols in the area, and met with the hotel's general manager to figure out how to prevent similar crimes in the future.

You're reminded to lock your car doors, and bring your valuables inside --- especially weapons.
