Washington Park, IL (KSDK) - A St. Clair County homeowner died Friday morning in a fire at his residence.
The Washington Park Fire Department responded to the 6000 block of Forest Boulevard around 6:40 a.m. for a home that was fully engulfed in flames.
Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered the body of Alfredo Coates. They believe Coates had tried to escape the home but could not get out because of the bars surrounding the windows.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities believe the fire is accidental.
