Granite City, Ill (KSDK) -- A diamond engagement ring is out of a sewer after nearly being lost forever.

The ring's owner, Sarah Parks, accidentally flushed her ring down a toilet at her apartment complex in Granite City.

Parks contacted Roto-Rooter and a technician was able to use a fiber optic sewer inspection camera snake to find the ring in the sewer pipe.

The camera spotted the ring three stories and 40-feet into the apartment building's underground sewer pipe on its way to the main sewer.

A wire hook was attached to the camera and the ring was pulled out.

The ring was returned to Parks.
