EDWARDSVILLE, IL (AP) - An administrator in the University of Wisconsin system is the new chancellor of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
Julie Furst-Bowe was introduced Thursday as a selection committee's choice to succeed retiring chancellor Vaughn Vandegrift at the 14,000-student school just northeast of St. Louis.
Furst-Bowe has served since 2005 as provost and vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She's been at that school since 1990, having previously served as a faculty member, graduate program director, department chair and associate vice chancellor.
She has a master's degree from Wisconsin-Stout in instructional media technology and a doctorate degree in education from the University of Minnesota.
SIU's Board of Trustees is expected to sign off next month on the hiring of Furst-Bowe.
