ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -  The Better Business Bureau says Executive Vacations, a company investigated by 5 on Your Side, has scored an "F" rating.

NewsChannel 5 became aware of its practices after receiving a call from an Illinois woman who claimed to have paid the company $1,500, but then never heard back from its employees.

It turns out, she's not alone.  The Federal Trade Commission says cases of timeshare resale scams have tripled.  To protect yourself, the BBB offers the following tips:

-Make sure company has legitimate physical address
-Contact the BBB and the state Attorney general where the reseller is located.
-Deal only with licensed real estate brokers and agents, and ask for references from satisfied clients.
-If you must pay a fee in advance, ask about refunds.
-Get refund policies and promises in writing.
