East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - The East St. Louis City Council heard from citizens Tuesday night about a proposal to close businesses early.
The City Council is considering a curfew of 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends, with the exception of casinos, gas stations and hotels.
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin has thrown his weight behind the proposal calling the late night clubs an invitation for murder, but citizens are concerned about the other business will be impacted.
Mayor Alvin Parks says he strongly opposes the proposal.
No word on when a decision will be made.
