O'Fallon, IL (KSDK) - Police officers in Illinois have a message for drivers who plan on hitting the roads this memorial day weekend.

"We have to slow down, we have to wear our seatbelts and we've got to stop texting while we're driving," said Captain Steve Johnson with Illinois State Police.

Officers from 500 law enforcement agencies across the state will be out in full force looking for speeders, drunk drivers and people not wearing their seatbelts.
