Alton, Ill (KSDK) -- Alton cooling centers are reopened for the predicted triple digit temperatures.
People who need cool places to go can go to the following locations:
Alton Square Mall food court,. 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday - Saturday, closes at 6 p.m. Sundays
Salvation Army at 525 Alby St., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday
Senior Services Center at 2693 N. Rodgers, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday
YWCA at 304 E. 3rd Street, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
Monroe Memorial Church (will pick people up if needed) open 24/7
Two fire stations will also be available for walk-in cooling periods. The cooling centers are located at Alton Fire Station 1 at 333 E. 20th Street and Alton Fire Station 2 at 3213 College Avenue.
The Alton cooling stations may not be staffed during emergency calls and should be utilized as a last resort cooling point. The fire department can arrange for Alton Police Department courtesy transportation to other cooling centers from each fire station.
