O'Fallon, IL (KSDK) - There's something unique about one of the homes on Donna Drive in O'Fallon. It's the yard. The lawn is more on the side of lush and green than it is brown and dry.
As it turns out, it's a pilot project for LHS, Landscape Horticulture Services. The company is beginning to offer lawn-painting as one of their services.
"It's one of those things where people are really curious and I think it's like a lot of new things where they want to see somebody else try it out first before they give it a shot," said LHS owner Paris Rosenberg.
LHS's pilot project is at the home of Amy Reeser and her husband.
"Most of my neighbors are figuring them out because you have the neighbors next door, and that neighbor," she said, pointing out the dried-up, brown lawns so many of us have these days. "So it's pretty obvious, but it does look really nice."
Rosenberg says a small front yard will cost you about $200, and it should last 8 weeks. She says lawn paint is organic, pet-and-kid friendly, and you're not going to track it into the house.
Some of Reeser's neighbors are green with envy.
"People will slow down and ask about it," she said. "We've had a few friends over and they seem pretty interested in it, too."
