East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - A person of interest is being questioned in connection with Thursday's hit and run accident that claimed the life of a 45-year-old East St. Louis woman.
Yvette Hart was crossing the intersection of Louisiana and 25th streets with her daughter when she was struck by a pickup truck speeding in the wrong lane. Investigators said the driver blew through a stop sign at the intersection.
Hart died at a hospital a short time later.
East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore says Friday morning the truck involved in the accident was recovered in Cahokia after they received a tip. He says there was some effort to cover up damage done to the truck.
The person of interest is not the owner of the truck.
