Swansea, IL (KSDK) - Investigators with the Swansea Fire Department are working to determine what caused a fire to break out at the home of the city's mayor Monday evening.
The fire occurred at Swansea Mayor Jim Rauckman's home on Ednick Drive. The mayor's 14-year-old son contacted the fire department. Mayor Rauckman was not home at the time of the fire.
The fire started in a trash can at the back of the residence and spread to the roof and other parts of the home from there.
The damage is extensive and the home could be a total loss.
No injuries were reported.
