ST. CLAIR, Co. Ill. (KSDK) - A homeless man has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
A deputy patrolling the area of Carlyle Avenue in Belleville checked the registration of an Illinois plate he noticed.
The car was registered to 61-year-old Louis Davis, who had an active warrant for out of compliance as a sex offender from Jackson County, Illinois.
The deputy stopped the vehicle, identified Davis, and took him and a female, who had an outstanding warrant from St. Clair County, into custody.
Davis was determined to be living in different areas within St. Clair County. He was required to register as a sex offender every seven days, which he had not.
Bond is set at $30,000.
