KSDK -- The City of Highland's Department of Public Works will issue a boil order this evening following a water main break near Highland Silver Lake.

The break occurred on the south side of the dam of Highland Silver Lake, located along Route 143. The boil order will extend along Route 143 from Highland Lake Road to Geiger Road, and for customers on Prairie Road, the El Kay Meadows Subdivision and the eastbound Silver Lake Rest Area on Interstate 70.

All water used for drinking or cooking should be boiled for five minutes prior to use.

The city will lift the boil order once water samples return with a satisfactory result, usually within 48 hours of the order being first issued.

Highland is located about 35 miles east of St. Louis.
