KSDK -- A 20-year-old St. Louis man was captured Tuesday afternoon after breaking out of the Shiloh Police Department following his arrest earlier that day.

Officers with the Shiloh Police Department picked up Timothy Beckham around 12:10 p.m. on North Greenmount Road for an outstanding traffic warrant with the Madison County Sheriff's Department, said Assistant Police Chief Gary A. McGill. He was also being questioned on suspicion of child endangerment and was suspected of being under the influence of narcotics.

Beckham's five-month-old daughter, who was with him at the time of his arrest, was remanded to the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services, McGill said.

Around 3 p.m., Beckham picked the lock on a minimum security interview room and ran out of the police department building with several officers in pursuit. He was apprehended 30 minutes later.

Beckham was considered non-violent and unarmed during his brief tenure outside the jail.

Shiloh police have filed an application of warrants against Beckham for escape.
