The Washington Post is reporting one of its correspondents and two other American journalists have been detained in Iran.
The newspaper reported that Jason Rezaian and his wife, Yeganeh Salehi, were detained Tuesday evening in Tehran. Two American freelance photojournalists were also detained with them. Officials have not yet identified them by name, the Post reported.
Yeganeh is an Iranian citizen who has applied for U.S. permanent residency, the newspaper said. She works as a correspondent for the National, a newspaper based in the United Arab Emirates.
"We are deeply troubled by this news and are concerned for the welfare of Jason, Yeganeh and two others said to have been detained with them," Washington Postforeign editor Douglas Jehl said in a statement.
