ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – After more than a month of preparation, Trinity Lutheran Church in Soulard debuted its new pipe organ Sunday.
Parts of the old pipes were held in place with string and duct tape. And some didn't even work.
Each of the more than 3,000 new pipes is individually tuned to the sanctuary. Listeners say the new sound is apparent to everyone.
"When the full organ came in, you could feel the energy level rise…which is important for the start of the service," Pastor Jason Rust said. "And everyone just rose into that. It was incredible."
The new organ isn't just for services. The church plans to use it for community concerts to share different styles of music.
