Southwest Airlines plane headed to STL makes emergency landing

LEE COUNTY, Fla. (News-Press) - According to our news partners WINK News, Southwest Airlines flight 507 had an emergency landing at Southwest Florida International Airport this afternoon.

The Lee County Port Authority said no one was injured.

According to Southwest Airlines, 121 passengers and five crew members were onboard. They believe the plane may have encountered a bird strike, but further investigation is needed. Another aircraft will take the passengers to their destination.

The plane was on its way to St. Louis when it had to turn return to the airport just before 12:30 p.m., due to engine problems.
