How to dispose of your old TV

THE FACTS ABOUT PLASTIC RECYCLING
The Plastic Bottle Institute put together a bottle coding system in 1988. Soon after, the codes were accepted by the Society of the Plastic Industry. It was a way to aid consumers and recyclers. The codes are molded into the bottom of plastic bottles and containers, and surrounded by a triangle fashioned by three arrows. Technologically, all plastics are recyclable, but must be recycled separately according to the type of resin used to create the container. The current plastics coding system includes seven identified plastic resins.

PLASTICS CODING SYSTEM:
Resin Letters Resin Types Examples
#1 (PET) Polyetheylene Terephtalate Pop bottles, some food containers

#2 (HDPE) High Density Polyethylene Milk jugs, laundry detergent containers

#3 (V) Vinyl/Polyvinyl Chloride Drinking water containers, vegetable oil containers

#4 (LDPE) Low Density Polyethylene Flexible film bags, flexible lids, plastic bags

#5 (PP) Polypropylene Jar lids, container closers, box liners, some bottles

#6 (PS) Polystyrene Fast food foam boxes, foam cups, meat trays, some plastic cups
#7 (Other) Multiple resin materials, some squeezable containers
