Speeding leads to heroin charges for Granite City man

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) – A 26-year-old Granite City man is charged with heroin possession after a routine traffic stop.

It happened at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 13. A Madison County Sherriff's Deputy pulled Brett Robbs over for speeding on Illinois State Route 3 – near Bissell Street in Venice.

The deputy arrested Robbs after discovering that his driver's license was suspended. An ensuing search revealed that he was in possession of heroin and a syringe.

Robbs is currently being held at Madison County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

In addition to the drug charge, he has also been issued citations for speeding and driving with a suspended license.
