St. Louis, Kansas City earn perfect score for equality

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – With the neighboring state preparing to sign into law same-sex marriage, St. Louis and Kansas City each seem to have a strong rating for equality, according to the Human Rights Campaign.

The Municipal Equality Index report gives St. Louis and Kansas City a score of 100 on the index, which only 25 cities in the nation received.

The report rated more than 290 cities from each state and assigned values based on non-discrimination laws, relationship recognition, municipality as employer, municipal services, law enforcement and relationship with the LGBT community.

St. Louis and Kansas City received full credit in all categories except municipality as employer.

This is the second year the Human Rights Campaign released such a report.
