Stamps increase from 46 to 49 cents

KSDK - An increase in e-mail is causing the post office to suffer, and the public is feeling the hit.

We will now be paying three cents more for first class mail, going from 46 cents to 49 cents.

U.S. Postal Service rate increase went into effect Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014.

The postal service has been on the decline for the last several years, including taking a $5 billion hit in the last fiscal year.

This is also the largest single hike in a decade.
