STLFD trains for Fair STL water rescues

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – The St. Louis Fire Department Marine Task Force had three districts training at the Grand Basin in Forest Park Sunday in preparation for Fair St. Louis.

The lagoon – located at the bottom of Art Hill – is only four feet deep, but the fire department wants to be ready in the event that intoxicated people try to jump into the water headfirst, according to STLFD.

The task force even brought out their zodiac boat!

Firefighters practiced deployment of the zodiac boat and were trying to determine what equipment they'll need for the fair.

The heads of each fire department are discussing how to handle security and be prepared for anything, a spokesperson said.
