Storm prompts Gov. Nixon to delay trip to Canada

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) – Gov. Jay Nixon has delayed a trip to Canada and activated the State Emergency Operations Center in wake of a winter storm expected to pummel much of the state, leaving behind up to a foot of snow in spots.

Nixon was supposed to leave for Canada on Sunday for a trade mission.

"State emergency management officials are working to ensure we are fully prepared for what is forecast to be a severe winter storm," Nixon said in a news release.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has issued a 'no travel advisory' starting Saturday night. Our entre viewing area is under a winter storm warning from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.
