ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay is urging residents to approve a $13 million bond issue for improvements to the Mississippi River flood wall.
The bond issue is on the November 8 ballot. The local bond issue would trigger a federal match.
The flood wall needs an estimated $15 million in repairs. The additional money would go to upgrade the city's emergency communications systems. In the past, police have been unable to talk to firefighters and firefighters have been having difficulty talking with each other on existing equipment.
