LAPORTE, Ind. (AP) - A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a housemate whose body was found inside a freezer at her northern Indiana home.
Court records show 47-year-old Daniel Shoffner was charged Tuesday. They did not indicate whether he has hired an attorney.
WSBT-TV reported court documents show Shoffner told police he was demonstrating "knife moves" and accidentally stabbed the woman in the neck, chest, and also once in the hand when she tried to block him. His daughter called police after he told her what happened.
LaPorte County Prosecutor Robert Szilagyi says the body will have to be thawed out before an autopsy can be performed. Authorities haven't released the woman's name. Coroner John Sullivan said she was about 70 years old.
