Suspected car clouters arrested after high-speed pursuit

ST. ANN (KSDK) – Two suspected car clouters are in custody after a high-speed pursuit from St. Ann to North St. Louis.

They first got on police's radar after the stolen Black Dodge Nitro they were driving left the scene of an accident at around 8 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was spotted by the St. Louis County police helicopter, and the pursuit began when officers caught up with the suspects on the ground, and realized that they were driving a stolen car.

It began in Northwoods, went through parts of St. Louis County, through St. Ann and wound into north city, where the vehicle slid on a patch of ice, careening off the road in the O'Fallon Park area.

The suspects left the vehicle and took off on foot, before officers found them and took them into custody a short time later. Police say they are suspected car clouters in both St. Louis and St. Ann.

The suspects could face charges in both St. Louis city and the county.

No additional information was immediately available.
