I-44 closed downtown

ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Department of Transportation has closed all lanes of Interstate 44 in both directions from Broadway to the Poplar Street Bridge.

The interstate closed at 8 p.m. Friday so crews can place girders over the highway as part of the CityArchRiver Park Over the Highway project.

MoDOT has also closed the Eads Bridge is also closed so traffic can move smoothly.

Drivers heading east should take northbound Memorial to 3rd Street and get back on I-44 after the Martin Luther King Bridge.

Westbound I-44 traffic will detour down Broadway.

Traffic heading southbound I-55 will use Spruce to get to the interstate. Traffic heading for eastbound I-64 will take Gratiot to the 6th Street ramp.

Just a reminder, the ramp from westbound I-44 to the eastbound Poplar Street Bridge will remain closed until July 18. Drivers should use either the new Stan Musial Veterans Memorial or the Martin Luther King bridges as detours for the ramp closure. Following this weekend's closure, the Eads Bridge will also be an option for drivers.
