Uplands Park moves forward with police protection

UPLANDS PARK, Mo. (KSDK) – A small village in St. Louis County that has been without regular police patrols since this summer may have a glimmer of hope on the horizon.

Members of the Uplands Park Board of Trustees voted on Monday to start negotiating a contract with St. Louis County police for more police protection. County police have responded to 911 calls and emergencies since this summer, but the board agrees that the village needs more protection.

The board's chairperson said the talks between them and the county go back all the way to 2011.

There's no word yet on how fast Uplands Park could see regular 24/7 patrols.
