Victim of Bourbon Street shooting dies

NEW ORLEANS - One of the 10 victims of the weekend shooting on New Orleans' famed Bourbon Street died Wednesday.

According to the coroner's office, Brittany Thomas, 21, of Hammond, La., died from her injuries.

Thomas had been in critical condition since the early Sunday morning shooting when two gunmen sprayed the crowd with bullets.

Three others were reported in stable condition after Sunday's shooting. Interim LSU Hospital spokeswoman Siona LaFrance said Wednesday a 21-year-old Australian woman was released from the hospital.

On Sunday, police said nine people were injured in the shooting. Then Monday, they said a person who came into the police department Sunday afternoon also was injured in the violence.

No arrests have been made.

On Wednesday, the New Orleans Police Department identified a 20-year-old man as a person of interest in the shooting.

They are asking for help in finding Justin Odom and a male associate named either "Josh" or "Joe," who also is a person of interest in the investigation.

Officer Hilal Williams, a police spokeswoman, said Odom also is wanted on warrants out of Jefferson Parish, La. She doesn't know his home town.

Police continue to seek the public's assistance in obtaining photos or videos that were taken of the incident or any photos or videos taken in the French Quarter on the night of the incident.
